Chinese team lost all five games, lost 25.2 points per game, ranked last. Created the worst record since the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona 20 years ago, the competitiveness of Chinese basketball team is declining significantly. The gap with the world top teams is getting bigger. The Performance of Chinese mens basketball team in the Olympic Games deserved to be reflected on. The current basketball game is still getting higher, faster and stronger. Offensive and defensive speed is also getting faster. The unity of speed and height is getting more attention. The defense of basketball is aggressive, comprehensive defense system is widely used. The Chinese mens basketball team use zone defense a lot and Chinese basketball team is familiar with zone defense. In London Olympic Games, Chinese team use man to man defenses most and then the zone defense. Through the statistics and analysis of Chinese mens Basketball Defense performed in London Olympic Games, we can find out the advantages and problems in the process of using them. It is helpful for training and match of Chinese men’s basketball team.In this paper, we study at the using of zone defense in Chinese men’s five basketball games. We use video observation method, literature method, mathematical method, logical analysis method and other research methods to analyze the statistics and index of Chinese team’s five games in London Olympics. The results are as follows: Chinese basketball team use zone defense when the match was suspended or when players make free shot. When zone defense was used, it is used a long time, even a quarter. So it is less flexible and elusive Chinese men’s basketball team use zone defense the most in second quarter, the least in first quarter. The most formats is 2-3 zone defense, secondly, 2-1-2 zone defense the other was used
