In the way, humanities education can give full play in cultivating the university student’ s humanistic spirit, improving their humanistic quality and shaping their health character. Thus they can become talents with high and overall quality. The thesis begins with the historical origin of humanities education and theoretically gives a precise definition for humanities education in colleges and universities. The second part focuses on the specific problems of humanities education from the following aspects: the imbalance between science education and humanities education, between professional knowledge education and humanities education, between technical education and humanities education, and the loss of humanistic spirit among university student. In the third part, the influence from various parts on current humanities education in colleges and universities is analysed, e.g, the spirit and practice environment for the growth of Chinese university students, educational reform in colleges and universities, market economy, humanities
