Shaanxi water source is an important one in the middle route in the South-to-Nort h Water Transfer Project. Natural geologica l structure and physiognomic characteristics in southem Shaanxi lead to serious soil and water loss in this area. Non-point source pollution and soil and water loss 缸e key factors of water quality in water source. The research of soil and water conservation comprehensive harnessing and basic benefit of the middle route in the South-to-North Water Transfer Project has impo民ant theoretical and practical significance for the soil and water conservatio n decision-making ,investment and water quality protection. The paper is based on the projects of the ecological compensation and basic benefit of the middle route in the South-to-North Water Transfer Project water source area. Through data analysis and field investigation ,the work task of Water and soil conservation area is defined. small watershed of Tao Huagu is chosen as typical small watershed . The basic benefit research ofthe soil and water conservation harnessing in key area is determined.
