II II ABSTRACT After Chinas opening up of service, the Yangtze River Delta region has became one of the regions which has absorbed the largest services FDI by virtue of its superior geographical advantage.However, along with the economic development of the Yangtze River Delta region,the income gap is widening. Since the services sector is becoming an improtant industry in absorbing foreign capital, has the income gap within the Yangtze River Delta region concermed with the influx of services FDI? If so, the impact of services FDI on the income gap of Yangtze River Delta region is positive or negative? And through what mechanisms and channels does services FDI influence the income gap of the Yangtze River Delta region? Does this relationship change in different regions? Answering these matters has important theoretical importance for the Yangtze River Delta region and the sustainable development of Chinas overall economy. This paper first analyzes the theoretical basis of the FDI impact on regional income gap. And form the perspective of services sector’s characteristics which is different form the manufacturing industry, the special needs of the services sector for human captial、the significance of indirect employment creation effect、high degree of identity of the service industry in the production and consumption and the obvious linkage effects of services sector’s various aspects links with manufacturing are expressed as four mechanism that services FDI affect the income gap in the Yangtze River Delta region: the employment effect, the price effect, technology spillovers effect and industrial structure adjustment effect. Then based on the current situation of services FDI and income gap in the Yangtze River Delta region, we obtain the overall trend of services FDI and income gap in the Yangtze River Delta region. Finally, through estimating the Theil coefficient of income gap in the Yangtze River Delta region, and using relevant data in Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Shanghai
