PAGE PAGE IV Abstract Epoxy resin is a material with good adhesion, heat resistance and electrical insulation, which can be used as adhesives, coatings, potting materials and composite materials, and also widely used in electronic appliances, automotive, construction, aviation and other fields. However, it could not be well applied due to its viscosity, cured brittle and some other shortcomings. There are many ways on the epoxy resin modified at present, but some deficiencies come in the practical application. This experiment used 1,2 - cyclohexanediol diglycidyl ether as a reactive diluent,and then studied its influence to the epoxy curing system. First, 1,2 - cyclohexanediol diglycidyl ether epoxy system can drastically reduce the viscosity, it has no obvious impact to the adaptation period of the mixed system when using different curing agent and at different curing temperature. Secondly, the DSC analysis showed that 1,2 - cyclohexanediol diglycidyl ether can improve the activity of curing reaction; from the view of the gelation theory, it can reduce the epoxy resin curing reaction activation energy, when the mass fraction is 30 %, the system of activation energy will decrease from 57.93KJ / mol to 52.73KJ / mol. Finally, it studied the influence of the 1,2 - cyclohexanediol diglycidyl ether content to the mechanical properties , heat deflection temperature of the curing by using the different curing agents. It was found that by using the methyl hexahydrophthalic anhydride as curing agent and when its percentage was 30%, the tensile strength of castings will reach to 69.49MPa, tensile modulus is 7.36GPa, bending strength is 103.32MPa, flexural modulus 2.4GPa, impact strength is 12.32 KJ / m2, while heat deflection temperature change little. Double dicyclopentadiene is a epoxy alicyclic epoxy resin, which could solute in the 1,2 - cyclohexanediol diglycidyl ether and the solubility can reach to 50% when the temperature is 75℃.
