II II Abstract Promoting the sinicization, modernization and popularization of Marxism was proposed as the current topic again in the fourth plenum of 17th CPC central committee. This is indicative for China to deal with how to promote contemporary Marxism. Hence, explaining the scientific connotation of popularization of contemporary Chinese Marxism, clarifying the connotation and denotation of popularization of contemporary Chinese Marxism, figuring out the relationship among sinicization, modernization and popularization of Marxism and understanding the value and significance of popularization of Marxism are quite necessary. How to uphold and develop Marxism? This contains three aspects, namely are the sinicization, modernization and popularization of Marxism. Sinicization of Marxism deals with how to combine the universal truth of Marxism with the actual situation of Chinese revolution, construction and reform, and make the imported Marxism rooted into Chinese traditional culture. Modernization means that Marxism can reflect the needs of times, namely keep pace with times. Popularization of Marxism tackles with the problem of how to internalize Marxism into people’s firm belief and apply it into practice. Those three aspects are co-related and mutual beneficiary. Only when we make Marxism sinicized, modernized and popularized, can we guarantee Marxism is always scientific and practical. Only when we focus on popularization of Marxism can contemporary Chinese Marxism play a more important role in guiding the practice of constructing Chinese characteristic socialism. The popularization of contemporary Marxism sounds easy but actually is a quite complex task. It requires people to grasp the inner essence. Moreover, it demands people to stand in the position of Marxism and to take Marxism viewpoint to conduct comprehensive and systematical analysis and study from different levels and various angles dialectically instead of focusing on just one single aspect.
