III III The effect of lower doses hormone replacement therapy 0n atherosclerosis in postmenopausal women Abstract The effect of low dose hormone replacement therapy on atherosclerosis in postmenopausal women Abstract Objective ： To explore the relationship between serum homocysteine ， plasma concentration of tissue type plasminogen activator(t-PA)antigen，plasminogen activator inhibitor-1(PAI 一 1) antigen,serum lipids(TC,TG,LDL,HDL),and low dose hormone replacement therapy(L-D-HRT) in postmenopausal women. To observe the effect of L-D-HRT on artery atherosclerosis in postmenopausal women. Methods ： 67 postmenopausal women were recruited. Among them;34 women received L-D-HRT before as a treatment group; Another 33 women who did not took any L-D-HRT as a control group. Fasting total serum homocysteine , plasma concentration of tissue type plasminogen activator(t-PA) antigen，plasminogen activator inhibitor(PAI一1) antigen, serum lipids(TC,TG,LDL,HDL) were measured enzymatically, and all women received carotid artery examination by color doppler ultrasound . Results ： Comparion with control group ， Hcy antigen was lower significantly(14.26±1.29vs15.67±0.76 ， P0.001) ， t-PA antigen was higher significantly(7.63±1.01vs 6.63±1.13,p0.001) PAI一1 antigen was lower significantly (63.87±9.15vs80.35±4.81 ， P0.001) ， TC （ 4.89±0.46vs5.32±0.87 ）、 TG （0.92±0.48vs1.69±0.72）、LDL (2.50±0.45vs 2.78±0.62)，LDLand TC TG were lower significantly(P0.05) ， but the change of HDL level was not prominent HDL(1.78±0.51vs1.58±0.29) (P=0.052). The number of carotid artery atherosclerosis (As) of patient who taken HRT is less than the control group (2 vs 8). Conclusion：low dose hormone replacement therapy can reduce significantly the occurrence of artery atherosclerosis in early postmenopausal women.
