哈尔滨工业大学工学硕士学位论文 哈尔滨工业大学工学硕士学位论文 Abstract Fluid structure interaction between two cylinders is an important phenomenon in engineering flows. For example, it occurs in flows that involve offshore structures, transmission cables with twin conductors, twin chimney stacks and heat exchanger tubes. The arrangement of the cylinders with respect to the freestream flow direction can be broadly classified as tandem (or in-line), transverse (or side-by-side) or staggered. Significant research has gone into the understanding of flows past cylinders in transverse or in-line arrangement. However, our understanding on the fluid structure interaction in a system with multiple structures is far from enough. In this study, flow over a circular cylinder is numerically studied using the CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics)software FLUENT. Gambit, the pre-processor of FLUENT, is used to generate the meshes for the whole flow fields first, and then, the generated mesh system is imported into FLUENT and computation is conducted by FLUENT. Rectangular computational domain is selected and the Navier-Stokes (N-S) equation is discretized using finite volume method and SIMPLE method is used to solve the discrete the governing N-S equation. The two-dimensional flow around two cylinders at Re =300 have been simulated in this study. The cylinders are arranged in tandem and transverse, the effects of the spacing between the cylinders on the flow Interaction, vortex shedding and the wake are investigated. For the tandem cylinders, research the spacing between the cylinders L/D =2.0,3.0,4.0,5.0; For the transverse cylinders,research the spacing between the cylinders H/D =0.8,2.0,4.0. The results reveal that the spacing between the cylinders has significant effects on the forces acting on the cylinders, vortex shedding and wake evolution.
