Abstract Hollow concrete-filled steel tubular (HCST) structure not only has a good ductility, plasticity , anti-earthquake quality, but also convenience in engineering design, construction and application. It’s now become a major trend for steel structure. Currently, for lack of relation theory and support facility, most of the HCST structures are used in telegraph pole, we can rarely see it use in frame structure, which makes it hard to get the acceptance of the market. After several years of research on HCST, our team got a deeper understanding of it’s performance and accelerate it’s development. To make a better promotion in the market, this article studies the anti-earthquake quality and cost of HCST structure and steel structure. Basing on Stiffness and Quality Equivalent theory, the HCST structure was established by optimize replace the pillars in the steel with HCST by using PKPM and ETABS, And then analysis and compare the anti-earthquake quality and cost of HCST structure and steel structure. At last it proves the HCST structure do get a good performance in anti-earthquake quality and economical efficiency. As an important compression member, pillar plays an important role in anti-earthquake quality. By comparing period ratio, stiffness ratio, stiffness gravity ratio, shear gravity ratio, the interlayer shear strength ratio, displacement angle and displacement ratio, it proves that the HCST structure has good performance in anti-earthquake quality. Taking into account the HCST members have not yet been accepted by the mainstream market, related facilities and construction technology is not perfect, Economic analysis and comparison was made in the Amount of using steel and concrete usage.
