Introduction of Sentences Sentences are basic grammatical units, and basic language units that people use to communicate. If English is regarded as a society, a sentence is a family in the society. A complete sentence is basically composed of a subject and a predicate. And subject is formed by a noun phrase, and predicate by a verb phrase, which is formulated as S=NP+VP.
