The Interfraternity Council at Southern Methodist University By-Laws Updated and Approved by the Interfraternity Council at the General Meeting on _January 21_, 2010 ARTICLE 1. RULES Meetings. All meetings and business of the organization shall be conducted according to Parliamentary Procedure as outlined in the latest edition of Robert’s Rules of Order, Revised. Order of Business. Call to Order Roll Call Minutes of Previous Meeting Presentations Officers Reports Committee Reports Unfinished Business New Business Chapter Announcements Adjournment Attendance- Attendance at each Council meeting is required by both the Chapter President and their Delegate. In the spring, the Junior Delegate is also expected to attend. Should there be a reason one of the aforementioned people cannot attend, an excuse must be submitted to the VP of Finance and Administration via writing or email two (2) hours before council. Failure to meet the attendance policy will result in fines levied (see Article 2-5D). ARTICLE 2. FINANCES Fiscal Year. The Fiscal year of the Interfraternity Council shall be from May 1 to April 30 inclusive. Contracts. The signature of the President or his designee, and the Fraternity Advisor shall be required to bind the SMU IFC. All contracts must be reviewed by the University Legal Affairs Office before signing by students or Fraternity Advisor. Checks. All checks issued on behalf of the IFC shall be written through the SMU Student’s Association Comptroller. Expenditures must be requested and approved by the IFC Vice President Finance Administration before a check request will be written. Failure to follow appropriate procedure may result in the IFC refusing payment or reimbursement. Payments. All payments to the IFC shall be made to the Vice-President Finance who shall record and deposit them promptly. Checks for payments shall be made payable to the SMU Interfraternity Council.
