Operating System Wireless 802.11 Security with Windows XP By Tom Fout and Warren Barkley Microsoft Corporation Published: November 2001 Abstract The freedom of movement and enhanced features provided by wireless connectivity is stimulating interest in IEEE 802.11 as an enterprise-deployable technology. Before wireless communication can become a widespread reality, however, the industry must first address security issues, present in wired LANs, but compounded in wireless networks. This article discusses security issues with 802.11 wireless networks and shows how the Windows? XP operating system can be used to make 802.11 wireless networks as secure as the 802.11 technology allows.
