* Current recommendations include taking 1000mg/day oral magnesium aspartate at bedtime. After 4 weeks of baseline headache monitoring, the patients were randomized to receive either thermal biofeedback, thermal biofeedback with relaxation training, psuedomediation, or headache monitoring. With thermal biofeedback patients learn to increase the temperature of their fingertips through the use of imagery and relaxation. This occurred for 8 weeks and then 4 weeks of post-treatment monitoring occurred. The groups were followed for 6 months after starting the study. In the two group with thermal biofeedback 51% of the patients improved. However, 37.5% of the patients in the meditation group improved also.
