ABSTRACTNN Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd, Tianjin manufacturing plant (Short for NN Tianjin plant) is an important production base producing diabetes products group, which belongs to NN Groups and is established in 1990’s. With 20 years’ development, NN Tianjin plant has become the only production base for durable medical device among the NN Groups. However, in the daily production of the Tianjin plant, there exist some certain adverse issues on process flows due to too complicated quality system, and too many case handling steps, and so on. Those problems directly lead to long products delivery lead time, to high stock level and increasing cost. During daily production, low-risk quality issue often happens, which is called as S1-level quality defect. The kind of defects are mainly showing an cosmetic problem, which will not have influence on product functionality and safety of the end user, but only may lead to visual discomfort. Always, during handling that kind of quality issues, involved employees handle it by using a higher handling way in connection with high quality risks issues. Even though when scratch is found on only one single piece of product, serious quality issue handling way will be launched. With no doubt, this way will ensure good, even perfect quality of products, but that will not be a goof balance among quality, delivery and cost aspects. Based on the lead production theory, this thesis analyzes and optimizes the complicated, unclear and long lead-time handling processes of S1 risk level quality incidents, by means of DMAIC tool approach, simplifies the whole processes, and makes the handling way more efficient. After the DMAIC project, NN Tianjin plant obtains effects on S1 risk quality issue handling cases, reduces wastes and costs; and at the same time, products quality and compliance is assured. And this project also results the quality handling steps as value-added step during the whole process from the materials receiving to products delivery, e
