However, for many learners when facing such an enormous task, they feel it somewhat apprehensive and confusing. Therefore, language teachers as well as researchers have showed a keen interest in finding out how learners’ reservoir of vocabulary can be expanded and their lexical knowledge can be developed (LauferHulstijn, 2001).It is obvious that one of the major tasks researchers and teachers face is to help students to acquire a large portion of vocabulary, and for years researchers have been searching for ways to effectively enhance learners’ acquisition and retention of vocabulary knowledge.Many studies tried to investigate the effectiveness of different tasks on learners’ vocabulary acquisition.
