1 * * During urban transport development, many cities in China are facing common problems, such as safety, energy consumption, traffic pollution, way-leave, land use and evaluation of quality of service, etc. But it lacks overall data and performance indicators to evaluate a certain city’s transport development, and identify the best practice of all the cities in China, and prioritize the aspects for a city’s transportation improvement. Therefore, it is difficult for centre government to guide local cities to improve their urban transport system, and establish national urban transport development planning and strategy. * 1 * So we plan to establish an integrated urban transport database. The database will help to share urban transport solutions, and to enhance the sustainability of urban transportation development . 1 * The potential users of CUTD data include domestic and international academic organizations (CoEs, NGOs, Universities, Specialists, etc.), urban transport decision makers at all level of governments, public transport enterprises, and travelers. Different type of users will be given different data-use rights. International and national data sharing and cooperating network will be established under MOT’s supervision. Data Warehouse Concerning the data storage, it is necessary to design suitable framework for data warehouse, which improves the robustness of the CUTD. It consists of three levels, geographic layer, traffic layer and data collection layer. The following function modules (including but not limited) will be developed to aid the fulfillment of the objective of CUTD: 1 * User Management The CUTD users are targeted in two groups: data providers and decision makers. The data providers such as highway authorities, bus companies, metro operators, urban statistic departments are required to register the institute and data source information in the system and upload data to CUTD regularly.
