AbstractSpeech coding is playing more and more important roles in recent years. ITU introduced a voice compressing criterion which is called G.729 criterion in 1996.The criterion have the advantages of high speech quality、low time delay and good stability, which can be used in the areaof digital speech communication and it is worth to be studied[46].The efficiency of G.729’s source is not high and it is redundancy, so it is necessary to optimize it. The algorithm complexity is high, if we can reduce the amount of calculation to improve the efficiency of the algorithm, then the G.729 algorithm can be used in the terminal equipment or the voice quality can be improved, it is necessary to optimize the algorithm. The paper mainly researches on proposing a scheme of hardware implementation based on a DSP of TMS320VC5509 and software optimization of theG.729 algorithm．First of al1,the thesis introduces the development, classification, standard and tendency of speech compress coding. Secondly it describes the principles of G.729 in details. On this basis, realization of the algorithm based on TMS320VC5509 is narrated. Then this thesis discusses the necessity of G.729’s optimization, after that it does research on G.729’s algorithm optimization. In order to verify the quality of voice,a simulation is optimized by using MATLAB. At last this thesis also does tests on the voice by using MOS. The results of MATLAB and MOS score show that the optimized algorithm can reduce the algorithm’s complexity, at the same time, the output quality still meet the requirements of the system.At last,the main conclusions of the design are summarized.
