AbstractRillerosionasoneofthemainformsofhillslopeserosionisanimportantcomponentof watererosion physicalprocessonhillslopes.Astherillerosionprocesswith dynamic,random andtemporalvariationofthethreemajorcharacteristicsofnonlineardynamics,traditional erosionmodelisdifficulttoaccurately dynamicsimulate andreproducerillinitiationand developmentprocessonhillslopes.Mostofthe existingerosionandsedimentyieldmodelsfocus only onthegeneralpurposeofsoilerosion prediction, whicharelackingofspace-timesimulation ofdynamicrillmorphologyevolutionprocesses.CellularAutomata(CA)isa“formuptodown” dynamicmodelingframework,beingcapabletosimulatethespatial-temporalevolutionary processofacomplexgeographicalsystem.InthisthesistheCAnumericalmodelof rillerosion processonloessslopeisbuiltcombiningthetheoriesandmethodsofcellularautomata,soil erosion,hydraulics andGIS.Themainpointsareasfollow:(1)Themodelofthesimulationoftheprocessofrill evolutionisbuilt.Themodelisdefinedincludingcellularstation,cellularstates,neighborsand transformationrules.Themodelcalibration andvalidationareperformed withtheindoorartificial precipitationexperiment.(2)Theinfluenceofcellsizeontheresultsandeffectivenessofthe modelisanalyzedandthereasonablecellsizeisdetermined.(3)Themodelisverified.The resultsofartificialprecipitationexperimentandCAmodelare analyzed bycomparisonfrom the aspectsoftheprocessandparametersofmorphologicaldevelopment,theprocessoflongitudinal erosionoferosionandtheaccumulative amountof runoffandsediment.Theconclusionswereasfollow:(1)CAisanefficientmethodinsimulationtheprocessof rillerosion,theprocessthat thegullyheadwarderosiongraduallyformingrillisfullyexhibit.(2) Comparedwithothermodels,theCAandGISmodeldoesnotneedcomplicatesolutionandhas simple calculationprocess.ThecoefficientofNash—Sutcliffe ofcumulativerunoffand erosionis 0.898and0.589,thecoefficientoferroris14%and-22%.Themodelhasbettermodel effectiveness.(3)ItcanbecalculatedafteranalysistheCAandGISmodelandresultof experimentthatintheprocessof riller
