AbstractWiththedevelopmentofinformationtechnology,themultimediatechnologybasedontheimagefilledinourlife,whichmakespeoplepaymoreandmoreattentiontohowtoprocessimageinformationmoreeffectively.Itshouldbeconsideredthathowtotransmitandstoreimagewithfewerbitsandlessstorespaceatthepremiseofhighimagequality,soallsortsofimagecompressioncodingtechnologyariseatthehistoricmoment.Atpresent,FractalImageCoding（FIC）isconsideredasoneofmostpromisingcodingmethods.However,thepracticabilityofFICisrestrictedbecauseoflongencodingtimeandcomplexcalculation.Sothispapermainlystudiesonhowto reducetheencodingtimewhileguaranteeingthereconstructedimagequality.Firstly,itintroducesthetheoryofencodinganddecodinginbasicfractalalgorithm,anditalsoverifiesthatitonlyneedtoiterateabouttentimestomakethedecodingimagestableandstayclosetotheoriginalimagethroughanalyzingseveraldifferentstandardtestimage.Secondly,afastFICalgorithmbased ontherelativeerror isproposed,whichmainlyfocusontheoptimizationofthesearchprocess.Theproposedalgorithmconvertstherange-domainblockmatchingproblemintothek-neighborhoodsearchprobleminthesenseoftheMeanSquareError(MSE)byusinganinequalitylinkingMSEandrelativeerror.Itwillavoidtheunrelatedmatchingbetweenrangeblockanddomainblockandshorttheencodingtimeinthesearchprocess.Theexperimentalresultshowsthattheproposedalgorithmimprovetheencodingspeedwhileguaranteeingthedecodingimagequality, andisbetterthanthebasicfractalcodingmethod.Thirdly,afastFICalgorithmbasedontheeliminatingcondition oftherelativeerrorisgiven.Thismethodreusestheinequalitybetweenrelativeerrorandrootmeansquaretoreducethecodepoolandimprovetheencodingspeedbysettingupaeliminateconditionandtwojudgmentvaluestoestablishallowablecodes.Theexperimentalresultshowsthattheproposedalgorithmimprovetheencodingspeedwhileguaranteeingthedecodingimagequality,andisbetterthanthebasicfractalcodingmethodandthefastFICalgorithmbasedontherelativeerror.Keywords:FractalImageCoding,relative error, k-neighborhood, standarddistance, eliminatecondition目录专用术语注释
