Owing to the differences of culture, people between Eastern and Western countries have their own ways to express their emotions. There are some embarrassing affairs when people have little knowledge of others’ cultures. As we all know, language plays a decisive role when we communicative with others but the diversity in language and culture makes cross-cultural communication a highly risky mission. This thesis focuses on the language of greetings and phatic communion.
