;Build up a dialogue with your partner based on the following situation. Suppose your company deals in Chinese hand-made straw product. An Australian businessperson makes an inquiry for your products, CIF Sydney, Australia. You try to persuade him to buy your products and finally you settle on quantity of order, price and date of delivery.;First the class work out a list of some special items for auction. Some examples are listed for you. Then the class work in two groups. Each group selects one student to act as the auctioneer. He/She is responsible for controlling the auction process by presenting these items one by one and asking the audience to bid. The auctioneers try to make the items attractive and arouse the interest of the audience, so that they can collect as much money in the end as possible. Assume that students have each got US$100 at disposal. They should make good use of their money to buy the items that are most important to them. They can bid against each item until nobody is willing to give a higher price and each item is given to the highest bidder. ;When the auction is over, the students who have obtained the items speak in the group to provide a justification for their choice made and explain why that particular item is especially important to him or her. Raise examples if necessary. The auctioneer chairs the group discussion. The auctioneer presents a report to the whole class. The report should include: The amount of money he/she has collected. The results of the auction, that is, who gets what. A summary of the discussion. There will not be any absolute answer to the questions to be discussed in the groups, but students will rival for the best reasoning and arguments. ;The whole class stand up and move around the classroom to find out different students’ opinions on the following statements. Mark the statement if it is agreed upon or disagreed upon. Ask at least two other students and later report your findings to the class. Answer
