The alunite deposit of Ugusu in Izu province recently found, is so gigantic that the quantity can be assumed to be about 56,000 ,000 tons of the ore. The average percentage of alunite in the ore is about 35% and the total quantity of alunite calculated to be 19,600,000 tons. This deposit is formed by hot ascending sulphuric solution of volcanic origin , which altered the surrounding rocks; liparite, propyrite , tuff and tuff-breccia. The alunite in the ore can be concentrated by flotation process to the purity above 95% according to the results of the experiments by Prof .
