Ltd, Chongq ing 400054, Ch ina) Abstrac t: The nonisotherm al process of four fractions of asphalt and several base asphalt is stud ied by TGA, and the re su lts show that the sharp decomposition temperatu re of saturates, arom atic, resins and asphaltenes is 300 , 4 2 , 438 , 472 respectively; the decom pos ition temperature of asphaltw ith m ore saturates content is low er. The isotherm al gravmi etric analysis on saturates and aromatics is carried out when the construction tem perature of mod ifying and storing the asphalt is 60 ~ 80 . The study show s that saturates and aromaticsw ill loose a large amoun t ofw eight during the storage at 60 ~ 80 . The lossw eight of saturate and arom atic is almost three tmi es more during storage at 80 than that at 60 . The asphalt from different p laces has d ifferent w eight loss because the contents of saturate and arom atic in each k ind of asphalt are d ifferent. During therm al storage, the w eigh t loss of asphalt w ith low er saturate tends to be stable in a short tmi e and the w eight loss of asphaltw ith h igher saturate is m ore severe w ith the tmi e passing by.
