含蓄否定结构 含蓄否定又称为意义否定,是英语否定的一种特殊表达方式。其主要特征是用肯定的形式表示否定意义 1. 词义型含蓄否定 v. fail, neglect, exclude, overlook, miss, deny, ignore, refuse, lack, keep/prevent/protect… e.g. It is your duty to protect them from harm. e.g. I fail to see why you think so. adj. the last, the least, short of , free of/from, safe from, far from, etc. e.g. You are the last person I want to see. e.g. It is far from clear which the country will end up with. e.g. It is a day free from wind. adv. vainly, hardly, scarcely, in vain, etc. e.g. Hardly do I think it possible e.g. They vainly tried to find out the strangers name. e.g. She scarcely ever saw such a thing. conj. than, more…than, rather…than, but, but that, before, unless, lest, since, e.g. But that you had helped us, we should have failed. e.g. Before I could ask,he told me what happened. e.g. I prefer to work than to rest. prep. instead of, out of, etc. e.g. He should invite his friends here instead of going out. e.g. The situation in this country has been out of control. 2. 句型含蓄否定 It is…that/who… e.g. It is a silly fish that is caught twice. 特殊情况下的反问句 What is the good of asking a favor of her? more…than… e.g. The beauty of Hangzhou is more than I can describe. too…to… He was too tired to go any further. 否定词在句首 --- 部分倒装 hardly; seldom; in no time; no where e.g. Hardly had we set out when it began to rain. e.g. Seldom is he late. not only … but also e.g. Not only is he clever, but also he is diligent. (前句有否定连词,故倒装;后句不是,故不倒装) not until e.g. Not until the sun set did we go home. neither…nor e.g. Neither do I know it, nor do I care. (主句倒装而从句不倒装) 未经允许,任何人禁止入内 e.g. Nobody can come in without permission. 听到消息后,没有一个人不感到兴奋。 e.g. Having heard the news, everybody felt excited. There was nobody who did not feel excited. There was nobody but felt excited. 这两本书都不是英国出版的。 e.g. Neither of the books is published in England. 他的设计肯定还没完成. e.g. He cant have completed his design 他来这儿不是为了求得我们的帮助 e.g. He did not come here to ask us for help But there is one fact
