The conservation of sp ecies requires preservation of natural habitat s ,where t he integrity of natural habitat s has been severely disturbed and sp ecies goes extinct . All natural habitat s are continuing to decline bot h inside and out side of reserves. Habitat change is p artly a natural process (e . g. , succes sion) , but human activities have accelerated t he process so t hat natural rate of renewal is insufficient to maintain natural habitat s. This p ap er provided concept , met hods of habitat renewal , habitat miti gation and t heir implication to protection and exploitation of natural resource . We argue t hat our on ly resourse , in light of t hese scenarios , is to adopt a new conservation strategy t hat considers t he im portance of habitat renewal and habitat mitigation in addition to habitat preservation . Accordingly , in our management decision , we must not only choose t he size of area to preserve ,but also t he size of area to balance habitat loss wit h habitat renewal or habitat mitigation . Finally , we explored t he application of habitat renewal and habitat mitigation in regional sustainable develop ment of Liaohe Delta wetland .
