Abstract: Experiments w ere cond cted on the seeding rates of oat-vetch mixt re com- bined w ith three levels of nitrogen fertilizer application and three harvest time on the border of crop and range regions in H abei of China from April to September in 1998. The res lts indicated that forage yields on different seeding rates except the third harvest time w ere significantly different ( P 0. 05) . The contents of cr de protein and NDF at different seeding rate were significantly different ( P 0. 05) , and that of ADF w as not significantly different. The relationship betw een CP content of total forage and vetch proportion w as positive correlation ( r= 0. 89) . In the N-rich condition, the effects of N- fertilizer levels on the yield and q ality of forage w ere not significantly different ( P 0. 05) , b t the forage yield was higher in high N-fertilizer than that in low er N- fertilizer. Considering the soil condition and prod ctivity level, the medi m N fertilizer application w as recommended for sing.
