Ｃｈｏｎｄａ’ｓ　Ｌｏｖｅ　Ａｆｆａｉｒ　ｏｎ　Ｔｉｂｅｔａｎ　Ｏｐｅｒａ 　　Qara Village of Nechung Town in Tohlung Dechen County is famed as the Art Town of Tibetan Opera. Whenever people talk of Jomulung-an active Tibetan opera troupe, including its history and future prosperity, they always give great credit to Chonda, a woman from Qara Village and leader of the opera troupe. She has not only made great efforts to achieve the resumption of Traditional Tibetan opera in this village, but also leaded local villagers to achieve higher incomes. 　　In legend, it is said that over 400 years ago a Tibetan, named Thangtong Gyalpo, decided to build strong, iron chain bridges over all rivers in Tibet with the aim to bring benefits to the people of the snow-covered land. So, he began this project with a fund-raising venture based on music performance because he was a talented and versatile person. He organized seven beautiful girl siblings into a performance troupe to provide a traveling show in order to collect funds for building bridges. While the bridges were being built, Thangtong Gyalpo gradually created, by his own efforts, the treasure of Tibetan opera. Dangsang, a female disciple of Thangtong Gyalpo, had a sweat voice and outstanding performance skills. She married Lugu, a farmer in Jomulung Village and then settled down locally. So, while Lugu beat the drum, Dangsang sung songs. The opera performers in Jomulung Village developed dramatically and became very active. Finally this performance troupe developed as a classical Tibetan opera troupe, well known in modern Tibetan history.
