Hehai University, Nanjing 210005, China) Abstract: According to the property of the construction of the bank, the soil is regarded as the Mohr-Coulomb model. And with the elastic-plastic algorithm, the whole procedure of the construction of the bank at different stage is simulated with the method of FEM. And for the comparison, the bank constructing at different stages is regarded as the equivalent load acted on the foundation. With this method, the computation based on the FEM is accomplished. The results of these two ways show that the method based on the construction at different stage is near to the reality and is more safe to be used for the design and construction.
