At the same time, the space of small towns, as the carrier and representation of development, also showed some changes. This paper firstly reviewed the research re- sults on spatial structure of small towns in China from the 1980s. It turned out that with the development of rural industry, the spatial scale of small towns has expanded greatly. Therefore, the existing research focused on the evolution of spatial form, mainly including the scale of the town, the expansion and reconstruction of industrial land and commercial land.
