In ord er to f ind ou t the mode and cause of th e failure, m acro and m icro ob servat ion, chem ical com pos ition an aly sis, hardn ess testing and m etallu rgical structu re ex am ination w ere perform ed. In add it ion, vib ration calcu lation and frequ ency m easu ring w ere carried ou t on the b lade. T he results show that the fracture of the b lad e is fat igu e fracture resu lting from stress con cen tration. T here ex isted an edge at th e o int of th eU- shape groove and the dorsa l side of the b lade, wh ere the largest stress ex isted. In addit ion, there ex is ted m ach in ing traces near th e fatigue source. St ress con cen tration resu lted in th e fatigue fractu re.
