Although initially developed for aerospace industry and for military aircraft , they are now finding wide applications in commercial and civilian aircraft , recreational , industrial , and transportation markets. They have low density and the highest strength among all currently available engineering materials. We generally obtained carbon fibers from polyacrylonitrile(PAN) fiber, pitch fiber and cellulosic fiber. PAN-based carbon fiber is recognised as most important and promising precuresor for the present manufacture of carbon fibers.
