谓语predicate 说明主语的动作，状态或特征。指出“做什么”、“是什么”或“怎么样”. 动词在句子中作谓语,一般放在主语之后. 谓语分为简单谓语和复合谓语两类 一.简单谓语 ?由一个动词或短语动词构成的谓语,就是简单谓语.不管这些谓语动词是什么时态,语态,语气,都是简单谓语.例如: 1.We?plant?trees?in?spring?every?year. ??我们每年春天都种许多树. 2.The?plane?took off?at?seven?oclock. ??飞机已在7点起飞.  二.复合谓语  ?复合谓语由两部分构成,其有不同的情况: 1.由情态动词/助动词加一个不带to的不定式构成： 1)These?students?shall visit the museum tomorrow. 2) What does this word mean? 3) I won’t do it again. 4) I’ll go and move away the bag of rice with Lin Tao. 5)You’d better catch a bus.  2.由个别情态动词和一个带to 的动词不定式构成: 1You?ought to begin?with?English?900. ?????你应从英语900句开始学. 2They?used to respect?the?old professor?very?much. ????他们过去非常尊敬这位老教授.  (used to/have to/ought to…) 3.许多带复合宾语的句子在变成被动结构后,也包含了一个复合谓语。 Jack?was seen to swim?across?the?river. ??有人看到杰克游过河了.(to swim做补语） Jack was seen swimming across the river. Peter was found cheating in the exam. The old man was found dead in bed/in hospital. 4.由连系动词加表语构成:  The?weather?has?turned?cold.??? You look the same. The weather gets warmer, and the days get longer. Keep quiet and listen to me. He looked worried. Is Bill in? 比尔在吗？ School is over. Let’s go home. My pen is in my bag. I felt tired all the time.
