2011 37 11 November 2011 Industrial Safety and Environmental Protection 1 * 叶君乐 蒋军成 张明广 ( , 210009) , 3 , , , , , 3 3 , , , Study on Material Hazard Index of Chemical Process Based on Inherent Safety YE Junle JIANG Juncheng ZHANG Mingguang (Saf ety Engineering Institute of Nanj ing University of Technology ; Jiangsu Key Laboratory of Urban and Industrial Saf ety Nanj ing 210009) Abstract A frame ork of material hazard assessment of chemical process based on inherent safety is proposed, including three indices, fire hazard, explosion hazard and toxicity respectively.Probability index and consequence index are defined in each material hazard index based on the concept of risk.The three indices are calculated as the sum of the corresponding index valueof all the chemicals involved in the chemical process to comprehensively indicatethe hazard of theprocess route.The scoring of the previous indices is cited in this methodology.Ho ever, the interpolation method is used in orderto eliminatetheborder fluctuation effect. Dueto the different dimension of thethree indices,they are respectively compared.As a case study, the three process routes for acetic acid manufacture are analyzed ith the indices above. It is sho n that the model proposed is feasible and practical to rank the material hazard of process routes to help focusing on inherent safer design of chemicals in early design phase.
