Assessment task instructions You have been provided with a set of structured questions that will allow you to investigate the key aspects of the world economy. The questions will allow you to look at the interrelationships between countries examining: ? how trade takes place ? the role of free trade ? patterns in trade ? exchange rate systems ? newly industrialised countries (NICs) ? less developed countries (LDCs) Your task is to develop an oral presentation that you will deliver with the aid of relevant visual aids — overhead projector (OHP) acetates or presentation slides. The oral presentation should be of 15 minutes length minimum and it will be assessed against a checklist (you tutor will provide you with a copy of this). You may, alternatively, present your work in a written report of 1,000 to 2,000 words in length. You will use the elements, below, to develop a portfolio of evidence. The portfolio of evidence will be made up of material that you collect as you work through this Unit. The type of material that will be in the portfolio may be: ? newspaper articles ? journal articles ? internet resources The material that you collect should be drawn from your own research. Your tutor will provide you with materials that will allow you to understand the topic and allow you to search for relevant evidence. You will use the material from the portfolio of evidence to prepare your oral presentation or written report.
