The monolithic columns can be divided into three cate ories: or anic polymer-based m onolithic columns m ade from the polymerization of acrylam ide, styrene, acrylate or methacrylate monomers, silica-based monolithic columns en- erally prepared by usin so-l el technolo y, and packed particulate-based monolithic columns. Monolithic columns are receiv in quite rem arkable attention and developin rapidly w ith a focus on monolithic stationary phases prepared from synthetic polym ers. The preparationm ethods for various types of capillary electrochromato raphic columns and their advanta es and disadvanta- es are reviewed accordin to 100 research articles. In particular, recent advances in the prepa- ration m ethods ofmonolithic columns and their applications are discussed in details. K ey w ords:
