2011 4 文 化 艺 术 研 究 Apr. , 2011 4 2 St dies in C lt re Art Vol4 No2 : ( 2011) 求是 岂能忘 育英? 兼论杭州育英书院的文化遗址保护 沈 弘 ( , 310058) : 在浙江大学西溪校区的大门口有四个大字颇为吸引过路人的眼球 求是育 英 们时刻提醒我们, 除了求是书院之外, 还有一个历史更为悠久的书院跟浙江大学校 史密切相关, 那就是之江大学的前身育英书院但是关于育英书院和其前身育英义塾这段早 期之江大学历史目前已经基本上被人们所遗忘, 育英书院和育英义塾的遗址也已经危在旦 夕本文拟利用新发现的史料, 来重新追溯这段珍贵的历史, 以唤起人们对于之江大学历史 和对于育英书院和育英义塾遗址保护的关注 : 求是书院; 育英书院; 育英义塾; 杭州大学; 之江大学; 浙江大学 : G125 : A Seek the Truth about Hangchow Presbyterian College and Protect Its Cultural Heritage Shen Hong Abstract: At the entrance to the Xixi Camp s of Zhejiang University, there are fo r big Chinese charac ters attracting the eyes of the passers- by: ( Seeking tr th, ed cating yo th) . These char acters are do bles ententes, for they also refer to the two earliest modern colleges in Hangzho : Qi shi A cademy of Chinese andWestern Learning and Hangchow Presbyterian College. They always remind s that these two colleges are important in the history of Zhejiang University. Nevertheless people today seem to have forgotten all abo t the history of Hangchow Presbyterian College and its relations to Qi shi Academy of Chinese and Western Learning. The present article aims to examine the history of Hangchow Presbyte rian College by sing newly acq ired historical data, in order to revoke the p blic concern to the protec tion of its c lt ral heritage.
