42 3 () Vol.42 No.3 2011 3 Journal of Central South University (Science and Technology) Mar. 2011 ( 130026) − −−− n R2 0.98 Singh-Mitchell Mesri − TU 447 A 1672−7207(2011)03−0791−06 Empirical creep model for saturated soft soil ZHANG Xian-wei, WANG Chang-ming (College of Construction Engineering, Jilin University, Changchun 130026, China) Abstract: Based on the triaxial creep apparatus, the CU and CD creep tests of Zhangzhou soft soil under different cell pressures were carried out, and the isochronous stress−strain curves and creep curves of multi-step constant load were gained. A hyperbola-typed stress−strain relation was stated which is suitable to describe the constitutive character of soft soils. Then an empirical creep model was suggested, in which the hyperbolic and power equation were used for model stress-strain and strain-time relationship respectively. The results show that the model has features such as fewer parameters and good applicability. Model parameter can be the obtained by a creep curve gotten by a group of creep test data, using partition average to model parameter n the fitting precision increases. Using this model, fitting correlation coefficient R2 reaches 0.98. Compared with Singh-Mitchell’s model and Mesri’s model, the suggested creep equation is more suitable to express the creep characteristics.
