Waves June ，2003 DEVELOPMENT OF A HIGH ACCURACY SUN SENSOR FOR THE GEO-STATIONARY METEOROLOGY SATELLITE 1 ） 2 ） LI Yong-Fu CHEN Gui-Lin 1） （Xiamen Municipai Bureau of Information Industry ，Xiamen ，Fujian 361012 ，China ； 2 ）Shanghai Institute of Technicai Physics ，Chinese Academy of Sciences ，Shanghai 200083 ，China ） A r Basing upon the reguirements of the scanning synchronization controiier system of the geo-stationary meteoroiogy sateiiite （GSMS ）and the characteristics of the soiar target ，a prototype of on-board high accuracy sun sensor （HASS ）and a set of testing eguipment of this HASS has been deveioped. The designed sun sensor ，which is used on the GSMS both for the scanning synchronization controiier and for the aiignment guiding of cioud pictures at earth stations，has two pairs of siits and u- ses an eguivaient detection method to generate a high accuracy sun puise. It has reaiized a measuring accuracy of 0. 46 microse- conds （r. m. s ）when the sateiiite rotates at a rate of 100 r/ min in the sector meridian piane of the sateiiite ranging from - 29. 5 to + 29. 5 . In addition，the sensor has the characteristics of high reiiabiiity ，reai-time and iow power consumption.
