College of Electric and Electronics Engineering of Huazhong University of Science Technology, Wuhan 430074, Hubei Province, China) ABSTRACT: Due to the difference of movement and DSLIMMAXWELL 3D boundary conditions between long primary double-sided linear induction motor (DSLIM) and short primary DSLIM, the longitudinal end effect are different. Based on electromagnetic field theory of long primary DSLIM, the dynamic longitudinal end effect was analyzed. The equivalent circuit model and modificatory coefficient were presented. The analysis shows that the longitudinal end effect in long primary DSLIM is a much 0 more benign effect. By selecting proper number of the secondary poles and proper slip of the machine, the end effect in long primary can be much smaller than that in short primary DSLIM. T
