Analysis of UHVDC Neutral Bus Switch Reclosing Protection Maloperation

ABSTRACT: A few times DC field neutral bus switch (NBS) 0
reclosing protection faulty action occurred during Jisu,
Hazheng and Xizhe ±800 kV ultra high voltage direct current
(UHVDC) high-voltage direct current transmission projects
system test and operation. Consequences of malfunction of
UHV DC NBS reclosing protection during commissioning test
and operation of several ±800 kV UHVDC transmission [1-7]— [8-10]
projects were analyzed in this paper. Causes of NBS reclosing — ± 800 kV
were found out, and solution method was proposed and verified [11-13]
with experiments. Mechanism of NBS reclosing in DC field
caused by different reasons was analyzed in detail, and
corresponding solutions were put forward. Based on NBS
reclosing fault analysis in UHVDC projects in operation and —
under construction, countermeasures were put forward to solve 2
