A Brief Introduction of Task—based Approach [Abstract] The task-based language teaching approach is one of the syllabus models that have been proposed in the last twenty years or so. Task-based syllabus represent a particular realization of communicative language teaching. Task-based teaching/learning helps develop students? communicative competence, enabling them to communicate effectively in real communicating world and engage in interaction. The most active element in the process of the task-based teaching is the learner creativity. By exploiting this kind of creativity, learning can be made significantly more efficient and more interesting. It is well-known that the task-based teaching/learning have a rich potential for promoting successful second language learning than the traditional teaching/learning. Task-based approach is reflected not only in China but also in some other countries, such as America, Canada, Singapore, Hong Kong and son on. [Key words] Task-based;Approach;Constructivism;Humanism;Social interactionism 1.Definition of Task-based Approach Task-based language teaching/learning is the new development of communicative teaching theory. It is advocated all over the world, for it reflects the basic theory of education “All the things are for students.” And it “emphasizes learning by doing”. Task-based language teaching came out in the 1980s (Long 1985; Breen 1987; Prabhu 1987; Nunan 1989), the basic and initial point of organization is the task. Task-based approach advocates students to acquire language naturally through cooperating with teachers and other students to accomplish certain tasks. It is to teach learners some methods and ways to reach a target and how to apply the interacting ability by accomplishing a series of tasks.
