The prospecting of superlarge potash deposits has been a big puzzle w ithin the mineral resource realm of China. Based on a synthetic analysis of re- search conditions in this aspect both in China and abroad, this paper deals w ith the principles for potash explo- ration in evaporative basin from macro-scale to micro-scale angles, w hich include: ¹ to analyze whether there w as a super-arid paleoclimate and considerable potassium supply during the long-term salt sedimentation, to as- certain if the paleo-lake w ater had developed to the crystallizing stages of potash salt ow ing to strong evapora- tion; ºto make certain in w hich strata potash w as formed; and » to determine in w hich structural location of evaporative basin the potash deposits w ere formed; ¼ to make sure which location of neotectonic transformation is favorable for exploring potash deposits under the modern landform conditions.
