DO I :10.13458/j .cnki .latt.002709 200 3 5 2003, №5 170 Foreign Languages and Their Teaching Serial №170 对符号学的回顾和展望:论符号学的性质、范围和研究方法 郭　鸿 (南京解放军国际关系学院, 江苏南京　210039 ) 　　　:新世纪来临之际, 回顾以往, 尤其是过去 10 年, 笔者为符号学研究取得的成就感 由衷高兴, 同时又深感忧 虑, 因为在符号学的发展中存在着严重问题。主要的是:符号学 目前为止, 还没有 一个完整的体系, 还没有成为 一门独立 学科, 在它的性质、范围和研究方法上各派意见大相径庭, 还存在试图以符号学包揽 一切、理论不联系实际、各对立观点互 不交锋而各行其事、定义和分类繁琐等问题。笔者认为符号学应该是在社会人文科学范围内的 一种跨学科方法论, 并以辩 证唯物主义、结构主义等哲学思想及以索绪尔和皮尔斯的符号学基础理论为指导。笔者同意艾施巴赫的建议:发展 一门基 本的、批评的符号理论;发展作为 一种运用中的社会性的符号理论;发展 一门历史的符号理论, 使它认识自己的根源、成就 和错误。 :符号学;回顾;展望;性质;范围;方法 　　Abstract :Looking back to the past development and looking orw ard to the uture development o semiology, the writer o this paper is at the same time delighted at its achievement and w orried about some serious problem s existing in the process such as :Semiology has not yet established itsel as an independent course o study, not yet ormed a complete system o theory and semiologists have not yet reached an agreement on the nature, scope and methodology o the study ;besides, there are such problems as diametrically opposite opinions existing betw een major schools yet no contention betw een them , attempts to cover all branches o study by semiotics, theory being separated rom practice, intricacies existing in de inition and typology etc .He thinks that semiology should be an interdisciplinary methodology applied to social and humane studies and that the philosophical ideas o dialectical materialism and structuralism and basic theories o Saussure and Pierce should be adopted as the guidance to the study .He appreciates and supports Eschbachs proposals:A oundamental and critical semiology , an applicable and social semiology , and a historical semiology or recognizing the origin , the achievement and the draw backs in the development o semio
