Apart from being cost effective technol ogy e mploy ed for obtainin g different fibre orientations and ne ar net shapes, textile preforms also lead to improved mechani cal properties of th e resulting compo sites in certain aspects. The developments in the field of textile performing along with th e ir advantages and disadvanwges have been critically reviewed in thi s paper.
