Executive Summary The Bank Recovery and Resolution Directive (BRRD) 1 entrusts resolution authorities with a set of tools and powers to intervene in a non-viable institution. Where the resolution authority applies the bail-in tool to recapitalise an institution under resolution, the BRRD requires that the management body or the person or persons appointed to operate the institution draw up and submit to the resolution authority a business reorganisation plan that restores the institution’s long-term viability.
