Unit 4 Enquiry and Replies Wright Yin Objectives By the end of this unit, you should be able to know: the different steps in business negotiation; what is enquiry and how to make enquiry; how to write letters of enquiry; how to write letters replying an enquiry. Practice 1 You must have the experiences of buying shoes or clothes on T (Department Store). In order to be successful in the buying, first you should find the products you are intrested in. Then you may enter into business relations and negotiate with one of your ideal suppliers. Make a short dialogue with your partner on this negotiation. Steps in Business Negotiation From the dialogues, can you conclude some essential steps in buisness negotiation? Enquiry An inquiry is a request for information concerning the availability of goods, prices, business terms, catalogues, samples, and so on. In international trade, an inquiry is an invitation to offer. First real step in business negotiation. Letter 4 (1) Where does UNITEX learn of the information about CNIEC? What is the product that UNITEX is interested in ? What is the specific enquiry? (2) What are the actions taken by CNIEC after receiving the enquiry letter? What is the use of the third paragraph ?
