Abstract
Itis known thatthe composition designofm~tnganesewhite cast iren
influence itstoughness an4 ahrasio~ resistance．In thispaper。the effectof
additlon ofthe Boran an4complex eiemeatsto thewhite cast ironOn the
hafden8bi“ty and the contentofre．otrtentattsteniteareexperimentally stn-
died and egaationsjudging theoptimam composition rangesare．porosed．
Tha resnitsshew thatthemodification 0ew hite castiron by RE can ch—
anne the carbidemorphology and distribgtion and increase thetoaghness．
Based on the effectsofRE additionon theCrystallizationbehaviorof hi—
te iron，the mechanism of medification by RE and mere effective roodifi—
cation technology are pqtfor ard and a complex modifier was develo—
ped．Finally in thispaper，the mechanism ofdissolution andgranulationof
thecarbidesdarin苫heattreatment 。fwhire castiron isconsideredand it
is concladed that RE modified w hite iren w ith broken netw0rk ofe．arbide
wiilbe granalated more effectirely during high temperature holding．
