There I was successful in clearing away a 1.5-year cataloging backlog of some 5,500 titles within the first nine months. Two years later, I returned home to Taiwan to join the library of the National Palace Museum. Regular cataloging work aside, I was also held responsible for drawing up a detailed plan for automating the library’s operations, which led to the installation of the integrated Horizon library management system in 1996, the very first library implementation in Taiwan based on the client-server architecture. In 1998 I was named the Museum’s Librarian, in charge of a specialized collection more than 150,000 monographic and periodical volumes, as well as archival materials on the early history of the institution. During the past twenty years or so I also helped organize a number of the Museum’s international exhibition projects that involve loaning objets d’art to and from other countries, such as Circa 1492: Art in the Age of Exploration (1991), Splendors of Imperial China: Treasures from the National Palace Museum, Taipei (1996), Schätze der Himmelssöhne: die Kaisserliche Sammlung aus des
