T he u se of spatia l sm oothing not on ly reduces the aperture of the an tenna array, but also increases the am ount of calculation due to needs o f calcu lating the covariance of each subarray. Th is paper analyzes the structure of the covariance m atrix, and com es to a conc lu sion that the array covariance includes a ll the sm oo th ing inform at ion of subarray covariance. Thu s sm oothing of subarray can be rep laced by sm oo th ing o f array covariance, w hich decreases the am ount o f calcu- lation o f sm ooth ing. T he com puter smi u lation verifies the reduct ion of am ount o f ca lculat ion of th is a lgorithm.
