Lucian Freud Name: 张梵 Fan Zhang 冯洁 Jie Feng 陈亭儒 Tingru Chen Girl with a Kitten is one of eight portraits that Lucian Freud(卢西恩·佛洛伊德) made of his first wife, Kathleen Garman (1926–2011), between 1947 and 1951. In this closely cropped composition, in which she is pictured against a beige wall, Garman holds a kitten by its neck in a tense grip, her knuckles especially prominent, seeming to half-strangle the animal without concern. Lucian Freud was born in Berlin in 1922. He is the famous psychologist Simon Freuds grandson, and has been living with his family in Germany untill 1933.
